Dear members and friends of INES,
We are delighted to announce yet another exciting INES project seminar. This year, we will travel to Frankfurt (Germany) to explore one of the most prevalent topics in Europe at the moment:
‘The Financial Crisis – a Turning Point for the European Integration Process?’
The seminar will be held from January 29th to February 2nd 2012.
The excessive indebtedness of many members of the Eurozone has resulted in an enormous instability of the financial market. This does not only threaten the economic recovery after the financial crisis but also promotes a resurgence of nationalist tendencies all over Europe. Especially the young European population is affected. In the meantime, politicians implement far-reaching economic measures. However, what exactly are these mechanisms and instruments? Will they work out? Might this crisis even mean a step backwards for the European integration process? Read the rest of this entry »

For several years now, the financial crisis has been present in media and in the political discourse in Europe. But who and what’s behind the crisis? What does it mean for the European integration and for our democracy? These issues will be explored by young people from across Europe next January in Frankfurt/Main. During four days they will have the opportunity to discuss with decision makers, media, and different institutions to discover the background and consequences of the financial crisis. Further information about the project will be published on this website soon.
INES would like to thank Jugend für Europa for the funding of the project, “The Financial Crisis – A Turning Point for the European Integration Process”.

After a temporary rest period, the INES Regional Group Mageburg has met last week for the first time in the new semester. Many of us had been studying abroad in the past term. Back in the city and with renewed motivation, we were happy to welcome many INES members and other students from all semesters of the BA European Studies.
On the agenda was not only the recruitment of new members that will continue the club activities, but also the organisation of this year’s freshers induction events for European Studies students. Heidi introduced INES seminar planned for autumn, which was widely appreciated. Moreover, the group informally exchanged ideas about postgraduate programmes, internships and pressing problems of the ongoing studies.
