A new INES Regional Group has been founded in the capital of the German Federal State of Sachsen-Anhalt, coordinated by Heidrun Fritze (Student of European Studies at the Otto von Guericke University of Magdeburg). In support of the local volunteers’ initiative, the INES Board Members Daniel Bloemers and Nicole Kaim travelled to Magdeburg on 4 July 2008, experiencing high motivation and support from students as well as institutional representatives. In addition to the establishment of a periodical INES Regional Meeting, an EU Simulation is being planned as a first project of the INES Regional Group. It is due to take place during students’ orientation week at the beginning of fall term. Supported by the University of Magdeburg, further activities have already been envisaged for the subsequent months; for instance, a public information campaign prior to the European Elections in 2009 as well as an intensified integration of Magdeburg into supra-regional INES activities. It is a great pleasure to welcome the INES fellows from Magdeburg to our fast growing network. We are looking forward to interesting activities!
